2016 Chevrolet Volt is supposed to be the redesigned version of the 2015 model. The main goal of this move, according to the leaving GM of the company, was to reduce the building cost of Volt. It faces competition from Ford Fusion Energi, BMWi3, Nissan Leaf and Audi A3 e-tron.

The present Volt is a 4-seater vehicle. However, the next generation Volt is supposed to have 5 passenger capacities. To make this possible, the designers are working to maneuver the batteries that occupy the rear part of the car where the placement of the 5th seat is to be made.

Engine and Mileage
The car will have a hybrid engine that is a small range-extending one. It will come from General Motor’s latest fuel-efficient Ecotec series with 3 and 4 cylinders. It is most probably a 1.5 L 4-cylinder. Two different battery capacities will also power up the machine. The bigger one is expected to give solely electric range of 50-60 miles. This will be an improvement of 38 miles from the current model. Both the electric motors will be able to run the car and also act as generators.

The automobile has direct injection and fuel system like other versions have but it does have certain unique aspects too. For instance, its combustion power has been given an improvement. It 12.5 to -1 compression ratio is higher than the standard version’s 10.5 to -1 ratio. Another aspect in which it stands out as the green car is ability to sip regular gasoline. Also, it does not allow nitrous oxide emissions to cross the acceptable levels. Mileage of this car is expected to be around 35/40 mpg.
Price and Release Date of 2016 Chevrolet Volt
The base price of this vehicle will be around $30,000-$35,000 and around $40,000 for the upgraded version. It will be introduced in January 2015 in Detroit Auto Show and will be sold in later part of the year.
The second generations Volt will be make its debut early next year in Detroit. It is powered by a hybrid engine that is eco-friendly and will offer around 5-12% more efficiency than the 2015 model. 2016 Chevrolet Volt will perform brilliantly as a daily chores car.
